On the day of Buddha Jayanti (Lord Buddha's birthday) thousands of pilgrims and Buddhist followers gather at Swayambhu Stupa to offer their prayers for peace and harmony throughout the world. ANBUG realized that the scarcity of good drinking water has caused many people to faint, become sick while on their spiritual sojourn. ANBUG with the help of sponsors arranged free drinking water supply to all the people on this very day. ANBUG will continue to provide social service such as this one in the near future. 4th Himalayan VW Beetle Rally 2004 was organized by individual beetle owners such as Susan Foulds (NZ), Frances Klatzel (Canada), Suren Thami and many other people. The rally raised funds for Ganesh Foundation run by a prominent doctor who provides cleft-lip surgery to the poor kids in remote areas. The rally was a big success and enough fund was raised to perform roughly 35 surgeries. View category |

Fifth Himalayan VW Beetle Rally was organized once again in May 2005 by individual Beetle owners like Frances Klatzel, Raj Golay, Sherap Sherpa, Satendra Bajracharya, Binod Thakali and others. The rally raised funds for three worthy causes such as "Single Women's Group" who empowers widows of Nepal, "Antenna Foundation" who creates audio-visual media for development and "Maya Foundation" who arranges uterus prolapse surgery and prevention programs. On Saturday 6th September 2006, an annual fund raising rally "6TH ANBUG HIMALAYAN VW BEETLE RALLY" was organized with a theme "Ride for Re-construction". The rally had more than 40 Beetles and about 250 participants. The rally was flagged off by German Ambassador to Nepal after which the caravan of Beetles drove through various parts of the Kathmandu City eventually ending the rally at Kakani. The rally raised funds for cleft-lip surgery and donated part of it to Kakani Nimna Madhyamik Vidhayala that helped them hire two more teachers for the up-coming session. In aid of Sahara Club in Pokhara, a fund raising drive was organized from 23rd to 25th September 2005 in the name of ANBUG HOPE 2005. Sahara Club in Pokhara runs an orphanage where they collect homeless kids from the street and train them to be a football player. Take a tour of this photo gallery. View category |
